Tonic Sol Fa

The last month of summer is upon us and it is usually filled with outdoor fairs, festivals and a trip to Utah. This year is no exception, including the trip to Utah! After returning home from the Stampin’ Up National Conference in Salt Lake City, we will embark on a series of outdoor shows. There are few things I enjoy more than performing outside on a cool but comfortable late summer evening (unless of course there is no one in the audience – it is very rare – but I’ve been there). This all culminates with the performances at the Minnesota State Fair followed by a festival in my home town of Sioux City, Iowa. Beat that! In the course of all our travels, we are diligently preparing for the upcoming holiday tour. I am very excited about the song selections and the innovative, challenging arrangements. I can say that because I don’t do the arrangements and rhythm, unfortunately, is not a good friend of mine. If all goes well, I should have my parts memorized just in time for the New Year Eve concerts at the Paramount in Saint Cloud, MN (my new home town)!

MI, TX, AL, and GA shows

To those of you who have been requesting Tonic Sol-fa in your area of the country, look for Tonic Sol-fa to be visiting Michigan, Texas, Alabama and Georgia in the spring of 2010! Complete details will be posted on our calendar page shortly.

We are rehearsing for Christmas and thinking about performing songs from our latest CD during the first half and new Christmas music during the second. Thoughts? It’s somewhat odd to be learning “Santa’s on the Roof” or “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” during the day and then wakeboarding at night, though who doesn’t love to crank the Christmas tunes while cruising around the water?
And speaking of water, I purchased a life jacket for a dog a few weeks ago. I can’t believe it either. But who knew Bailey (the dog) couldn’t swim? It pains me to tell you, but when paparazzi pictures surface, you will have been forewarned.

Anybody out there ever been to Disney World?

No?  Well let me tell you about it!  It’s this little place nestled in the middle of Florida that has fun rides and other attractions for children and adults and, since I just returned from there with my fam, I can attest to it’s fun-ness.  Yes, that’s an actual word.  In my head.

For realsies though, Disney was a blast, and though it was a tad sweltering, we all had a magical time….it almost felt as though it were the happiest place on earth….maybe they should use that as a tagline….hmmm…..

Speaking of heat, we are in the middle of a great summer, and we need you all to come out and check out the upcoming shows….especially the Minnesota State Fair!  It really is the Great Minnesota Get Together and we’d love to see you there!  If you do come, feel free to bring us some Sweet Martha’s!  Just kidding!  But seriously, do.  Ha!  Seriously.

Well, I’m being told it’s time to sing….so, we’ll check you later!
