We forgot to share our recent good news. It seems that TSF is the recipient of a few awards. You can read all about Just Plain Folks, their organization, and the competition we were up against at their website.

Check out the new listings for our television special! All times and dates are listed on our website’s calendar in blue. This should make it especially easy to find and quick for you to reference. Stations will only show our new special for a few more weeks before moving to holiday shows. After the holidays our new special will pick back up and be shown across the country.
As we are now one month are from away from hitting the road for our holiday tour, we turn our attention from learning new holiday music to shoring up all the details of production, travel, equipment back-up and repair, etc. The set will be complete this week and we can hardly wait to get our hands and lights on it! At the same time, the van is heading back home to the Waldoch farm for some much needed TLC. The auxiliary electrical system that controls the interior lights, TV/DVD and drivers seat is on an all-out revolt (though recently, the driver’s seat did come back online allowing me to reach the pedals for the first time in weeks). Minor repairs on select equipment is in progress and batteries (in major bulk) and spare parts (light bulbs, cotter pins, audio cables, audio connectors, power supplies, glow tape, gaffer’s tape, etc.) are on order. The venues are ready, the hotels are booked, the brochures are in mailboxes, ads are placed, posters are up, tickets are on sale, phones are ringing, radios are a buzz and websites are working overtime – all good signs for a rockin’ holiday tour!
We recently received news that the fan responsible for our awareness of the Be The Match bone marrow registry has passed away from leukemia. In memory of our faithful fan, we ask that you consider being a bone marrow donor. You can also donate funds necessary in allowing others donate bone marrow or receive bone marrow transplants. Thanks.

You know what I love about October? No, it’s not the leaves turning, or the mountains of candy my children will bring home on Halloween (which I then have to check – sometimes by eating the entire piece of candy – especially Reese’s peanut butter cups), nor is it the 2 1/12 weeks of rain we’ve been having in Minnesota. What I love about October is that it means the start of the holiday tour is now only about a month away!
Can you believe that? Where has the year gone? Where have all the flowers gone? Well, if I had a hammer, I’d say don’t “Hang down your head Tom Dooley”. Not really, but you’ve got to love those classic songs……more than likely I’d say “man, am I excited about this year’s tour, or what?” And you’d then reply “I hope so!” And I’d say “yeah.”
Well, I am excited! We’ve been working on this year’s tour in one way or another since January 10th, and we’re ready to go! This year, we were planning on having John Mayer on tour with us, but we had no idea how to get ahold of him, so that didn’t pan out. That being said, we’re hoping you will still enjoy to see little old us goofballing it up on stages across the midwest!
This year, you’ll see tights, Plastic Santa, tights, Mark’s “new do”, tights, and some great new original songs as well as some cool new arrangements (or so we’ve been told – by each other) of holiday classics! Wow! I can already smell the hot chocolate! Wait, Jared has hot chocolate in his mug. Still can smell it, though.
Hopefully, we’ll see some of you prior to the tour at one of our other concerts, and in the meantime, you can check us out in our new non-holiday special that will be airing on Public Television nationwide starting this month! Check your local listings for airings!
And so TSF is starting an agency… an agency staffed with artist representatives who look at a career picture rather than simply the next show. For some time, we have been training and collaborating with the best and the brightest on this front and I suppose it is a natural progression. Now if Mark can learn to sew better, we can finally concentrate on the last piece of music business we don’t currently touch… sparkly jumpsuits.
On a sadder note, it is time to store the boat for the season. To think that bare feet will not skim across the warm waters on wakeboard or skis for many months is disheartening. Snow, gotta love it, is just not the same.
Tonic Sol-fa had the opportunity to participate in the Be The Match Foundation Second Annual Gala Fundraiser, held last night in Minneapolis. We are honored to be able to be part of such a great cause, and encourage you to take a moment to find out more about their effort, not only in raising funds to help make transplants possible for cancer victims, but also growing the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), so that an individual’s chances of finding a donor match is increased. For more information, see Be The Match Foundation or call 1 (800) 507-5427.
