Our Kickstarter project funding is on the home stretch! We only need to raise $634 more in the final 31 days to complete the project. Consider pledging $1 to help finish this aspect of the project. Maybe you’re worried we might raise more than the required funds necessary. Let us assure you, if that were the case we will continue to honor the supplementary pledges with the appropriate incentive packages, and will apply the additional funds to the project making it even better.
Last night in Iowa we had a fantastic crew! Oftentimes, when we are in the midst of preparing for a show, we don’t get to spend as much time as we would like getting to know those who volunteer their time and talent. After the performance I couldn’t help but notice how helpful and professional these high school guys had been and, on top of that, how they all gave up a Saturday night to set-up, sell, take tickets, etc. Thank you! And happy birthday to the group of girls with the Transformer hats celebrating with us! I hope the Transformer cake was as amazing as I pictured it in my head. Also, to the janitor of the men’s locker room, Mark is sorry. Oh, and to everybody who waved at us as we tested the horn on the new Toyota Tundra, I applaud your neighborliness…
There seems to have been an issue with the video on our Kickstarter project page. We think we have it fixed, so if you haven’t had a chance to view it, check it out.
Our new t.v. project is 94% funded with 39 days to go! We’re so close! Please help guarantee our holiday special is completed by pledging at least $1 within the remaining time. Remember, if we don’t raise the entire amount, we get nothing, no incentives are awarded, and the project won’t be finished.
I always find that April is a good month for getting caught up on life. And why not? Winter is over and the snow is finally gone-usually-birds are singing, trees are budding, Mark is growing-oh wait, he just got new shoes with bigger heels-and spring is in the air! Time to dust the cobwebs away and wash the truck! Mark.
But seriously folks…..it is a good time to take stock of what we have and all we’ve been lucky enough to have been given as a group. Which, of course, includes all of our friends and fans who keep with us day to day, year by year, and help us along in this crazy business! Couldn’t do it without you!
Keep an eye on things to come and get your butts to our shows!
Know what I like about new songs? They’re new! Songs! Yes, that’s right, we’ve finished up rehearsing the new songs we’ve been waiting to put into our spring concerts and are planning – if all goes accordingly – to put in one new one at each of our upcoming shows until all seven are in rotation……now, for those of you that have been to our shows in the past few months – Tecumseh, Merrill, Northeast Texas, etc. – you have been privy to a few of these already, but for those out there who have yet to see us this year…..game on.
This week we travel to Tuscaloosa, AL. Never been there. Looking forward to it, and have our fingers crossed that Alabama will be on board with our humor……you never know. Either way, we are planning to have a great time while there, and hope to make some new fans and friends in the South!
Well, I suppose I should get back to teaching Mark the finer points of joke telling….a daunting task, believe me.
From the studio to the stage; from the Internet to the store front; from the interstate to the back roads of Wisconsin; the role of new and emerging technologies cannot be overstated in the ongoing success of Tonic Sol-fa. Something as far-removed from our given profession as variable-controlled electronic trailer brakes, for example, has a huge impact on our ability to arrive safely (and sanely) at each venue. I could go one for pages on how each of these technologies, developed by simply brilliant minds, has made our career easier and in some cases viable. Today, however, I am going to focus on one area – live sound.
The latest technology has allowed us to consider replacing a five-foot tall rack of audio gear that includes our digital mixing board with a laptop, an audio interface and audio software at a fraction of the cost with a marked improvement in audio quality to boot. We have spent the last couple weeks in a warehouse in the Twin Cities testing the gear and even brought it along on our latest flight to Texas. The system is so compact that we can carry it on the plane (you can’t imagine how many times we have watched our current digital mixing board bounce on, around, over and even off of airports luggage conveyor belts)! Though it worked very well in Texas, we are still ironing out some of the bugs. We are hopeful this new set-up will be durable enough to replace our current system. If so, it will be possible to control the laptop, the virtual mixer software and all the audio settings from a cell phone! Who thinks of this stuff? And then, who makes these incredible ideas a reality? AND then, who makes it simple enough for us to figure out? AND THEN…okay, I’ll stop now.
As a tight-knit group such as ourselves, we are always looking out for each other. Our motto is “If you have a hammer, find a nail.” We’ll let the following video explain.
