MAYOR RYBAK PROCLAIMS DECEMBER 15TH
TONIC SOL-FA DAY IN MINNEAPOLIS
***
MINNESOTA BASED VOCAL GROUP TO
RECEIVE HONOR DURING ANNUAL
HOLIDAY CONCERT AT ORCHESTRA HALL

Minnesota based vocal group Tonic Sol-fa (www.tonicsolfa.com) is one of the hardest working and most in-demand music groups in the Midwest, and when they’re not busy on one of over 100 annual tour dates or in the studio working on new material, Shaun Johnson, Mark McGowan, Greg Bannwarth and Jared Dove give back in schools and by supporting charitable causes.  Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak has acknowledged all of their hard work and efforts by officially proclaiming December 15th Tonic Sol-fa Day in Minneapolis.  KARE-11’s Jeff Olsen will present the honor and proclamation during their annual holiday concert at Orchestra Hall that evening.  The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and former Lonestar frontman Richie McDonald is the special guest.

The foursome, who have shared stages over the years with Garrison Keillor, Jay Leno, Jeff Foxworthy, Lonestar, Montgomery Gentry, Shawn Colvin, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Bryan White, Neal McCoy and Bobcat Goldthwait, is also becoming something of a PBS pledge drive institution around the holidays with their annual Christmas special.

Beyond conquering hearts of audiences of all ages across America, TSF—while doing all their marketing, promotion, booking and bookkeeping in house–keeps corporate America entertained and motivated with shows for some of the country’s biggest companies, including: Jostens, Tastefully Simple, Thrivent Financial, LifeTouch, 3M, Wal-Mart, Buick and General Mills.

While being named “One of the Top Five Must See Groups in America” by Campus Activities Magazine and earning the New York Times’ praise as “a vocal kaleidoscope…unique to the human voice,” TSF has quickly become a growing national sensation thanks to appearances in Newsweek and MediaStyle magazines and stints on Steve and DC’s syndicated radio show, fellow Minnesotan Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion and NBC’s Today Show.

The group’s accolades include being named NACA’s (National Association for Campus Activities) Contemporary Artist of the Year and multiple nominations for NACA’s Entertainer of the Year. TSF was also inducted into the Midwest Music Hall of Fame in 1997.

Tickets for Orchestra Hall are available online at www.minnesotaorchestra.org or by calling (612) 371-5656 and are $33.00, $25.00, and $20.00 (including facility fee).
